Elder Care Management was founded by Grainne Smith RGN BBS, a registered general nurse with 20 years experience in both the private and public health sectors.
Over the course of her nursing career Grainne has developed a profound interest and speciality in care for the elderly. She has worked as staff nurse in nursing homes and cared for elder clients in their own homes, as well as working as a trainer/facilitator to nursing and care staff in residential care homes. She has completed training in Elder Care Planning, Dementia Care and Prevention of Elder Abuse and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the University of Limerick.
While working in the area of elder care, Grainne has seen first-hand the difficult and daunting decisions that face families every day in caring for their elderly relatives.
This led Grainne to establish the Elder Care Management service as a resource that can independently assist older people and their families in these decisions by assessing their needs and co-ordinating the resources available from healthcare providers such as GPs, public health nurses, home care providers, and voluntary organisations.
